During 2019, Community Chest, in partnership with District Six Museum and One City Many Cultures, embarked on a series of public dialogues, identifying and outlining the challenges South Africa faces and exploring solutions.
This process produced the first ever Community Chest published book, The South Africa We Want To Live In, in partnership with Ikusasa Lethu Media. Compiled and edited by former Cape Times editor, Ryland Fisher, the book captures the often robust, thought-provoking and sometimes controversial engagements across the series.
Luminary South African thought leaders were also invited to contribute to the book. They include former Constitutional judge Albie Sachs, award-winning poet Athol Williams, Chancellor of the University of the Free State Bonang Mohale, University of Cape Town Vice-Chancellor Mamokgethi Phakeng, and former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel, among others.
This book is a must-read to dive into a vision of our ideal country and will be launched at District Six Museum on 7 December 2020. You can be first in line to secure this historic publication by pre-ordering your copy here.
